Baby on a Bike!

It's coming...

Yuba with Boxes 1

It's coming...

Yuba with Boxes 2

It's here!

Yuba with Boxes 3

After seven weeks of genuinely delightful transportational walking, and less-fun bus riding, we are a bike-mobile family once again: the Yuba Mundo baby-on-a-bike project is (provisionally) complete!

I'll leave the technical details to Dave, who is mechanic and carpenter for this rig. And I can't write much, as I hear Jasper waking from his afternoon nap even now. But I couldn't wait to share.

The bike is beautiful and boat-like, and we feel it needs a proper name stenciled on the back. We have a few we've been tossing around, but nothing has stuck yet. What should we write on this bike's substantial rear-end?

Does this bike make my butt look big?

And before I go... here's the boy in his new chariot!

Wow that turned out awesome. Stop by the shop and show it off when you get a free moment.

Wow indeed. Gorgeous wood boxes. Cozy down-low, rear-facing setup, no car seat sawing involved. I imagine you've got a click-in base in there?

And still tons of room for groceries or a side-saddle passenger!

The jostle-factor looks low. My colleague wasn't able to come up with infant dummies, but maybe we can borrow an accelerometer for the mode comparison we were talking about?

Love it. I'll sleep on the name search ... that old TMBG song "boat of car" floats up. Not quite, though.

Oh my, that's AWESOME. No name suggestions from my sadly uncreative brain at the moment, but I just wanted to say wow.

The wood looks gorgeous. Meanwhile, I love that you have the stoker bars already set up. Perfect for the wee fella when he isn't so wee anymore.

As a fellow Yuba owner, can I suggest s-cargo, snail in french l'escargo? They ride like a dream, waiting for a pair of Scwalbe big apple tyres after the originals have worn out! PB in Australia

I'm writing a post today about Pregnancy and biking, and part of it will be highlighting some of your BLOG posts. I've been following since January.

May I use the last image from this post?
